Grinding to Powder

Luke 20:17 What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? 18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Many churches will proclaim that the rock of Christ is the head and foundation of their ministry. If this were true, America and the world would be a much different place. Instead, what we have are most churches being mixed up on even the doctrinal basics and pastors who lack strength to take a stand when necessary. This effects both the work of God from getting done and puts members at risk of being ground to powder for serving lies.
If the church you have been attending has been feeding you bad teachings from the bible, expect the rock of Liberty Baptist to crash down and deliver you from the grips of deception, so you yourself can avoid getting crushed. They will provide biblical truth unlike other things you may have been led to believe that does not make much sense. With proper lighting from Gods word, instead of him judging you, he can now lead you to fulfill the calling he has for your life.
For those who are already doctrinal sound and are looking for a good church, what can be very frustrating is most churches are not even correct on salvation, let alone other things. When you think you found one that believes salvation is through faith alone in Christ, you often later learn they add works in some form or fashion. This is a sad reality one has to accept and understand. Truly, broad is the way that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13). Liberty Baptist Church of Rock Falls is one of the solid options available in the United States that will both lead others to life itself and assist in have it more abundantly.

Since September 11th 2011, Rock Falls IL has had a rock-solid church in Liberty Baptist, pastored by Tommy McMurtry. This is absolutely a place that is built upon the rock of Christ. They provide the foundation needed to assist you in your desire to serve God and will help give you strength to remain standing in faith when the storms of life suddenly beat upon your own house.

Here, you will be able to fulfill the calling God has for your life by taking part in activities that are pleasing to him. Another issue with many churches is that they focus their time on the wrong things which means you are wasting your own precious time. When your church is nothing more than a social club, you will have no impact on whether somebody else ends up in Heaven, nor will you have the opportunity to maximize rewards in your service for God. The worst thing that can happen is you do not even make it to Heaven because the church failed in helping you understand the gospel.
Liberty Baptist provides what is most important which includes being sound in doctrine, and doing the work of Christ by knocking doors to bring others the gospel.
When looking for a church, everything should start with having the correct message of salvation. A KJV only stance is critical as well. From there it takes a pastor who genuinely puts Gods will above his own. That is because even if that pastor is messed up on everything else, God can work with somebody who has the right heart.
In my long distance view, the heart of pastor Tommy McMurtry is genuine. This is partly why Liberty Baptist Church is not just correct on salvation, but are also a rock solid church both in doctrine and works. If I lived in the area, this is where I would attend church.
A Proclamation of Liberty

Jesus Reading from the Book of Isaiah:
Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
The very first sermon of Liberty Baptist Church was a proclamation of Liberty. Typically, when a church preaches it’s first message, the pastor will want to explain his vision of what the church is about to new attendees. Out of the gate, pastor Tommy McMurtry expounded on Jesus being delivered the book of the prophet Isaiah, who then declared the fulfillment of deliverance. This infuriated those listening to Jesus because this meant he was declaring himself as the one they have been waiting for. The savior both physically and spiritually. When we read the story, it is easy to assume all listening to Jesus were bad people. It could be some were like Paul and wrongfully acted in ignorance. This was a hard message
to receive. Imagine if Jesus hasn’t come yet, and a guest preacher walked into church and did that.
The mission of Liberty Baptist Church is to tell the world about Jesus. That includes a hard message of salvation through faith in Jesus alone, and one that is not based on anything we do.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
That is where real liberty is found. Our conscience is liberated because it is much easier to trust in what Jesus already did on the cross, instead of thinking we have to live a certain way to get into Heaven. When we are saved from our sins spiritually, we go to Heaven instead of later being bound in Hell. Jesus also helps us overcome sin in our present life, allowing us to be free from whatever bondage that sin has us in.
2 Corinthians 3:17 – Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
In order to help fulfill the work that Jesus has called the church to do, God provided Liberty Baptist a spacious facility that allows for plenty of seating and activities. The Liberty Baptist website provides an amazing 360 virtual tour that will have you feeling like you are physically present. It’s really cool actually, so you should check it out.
Church of Consolation
As someone who regularly attends the services of Love Assembly Baptist Church in Montgomeryville PA, I was able to personally experience something profound in Liberty Baptist that speaks to their genuine desire in expanding the work of God.
Pastor Obinna Ofoegbu of Love Assembly began his pastoral ministry running a charismatic church. After learning one cannot lose their salvation, he eventually decided to convert the church to Baptist. As a result, he lost most of the members, and even contemplated shutting down all together. Thanks to other faithful members who also received the words of eternal life, he decided to move forward with his vision of a Baptist church.
At some point, pastor Obi began to understand he should be properly ordained by a qualified pastor. For a period of time, pastor Tommy McMurtry provided him with necessary counsel, and eventually took on the risk of fulfilling that role. We should understand, this is something that required the blessing of Liberty Baptist as a whole. It was a risk for everybody and naturally people are going to have questions.
Before moving to the next point, understand we can’t compare anybody to the apostle Paul. That said, pastor Tommy McMurtry and Liberty Baptist took on a similar role as Barnabas when bringing Paul to the brethren in order to move forward the work of God. Consider how Paul encountered Jesus and found the truth in Acts 9. Barnabas then brought him to the apostles.
Acts 9:26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Personally, I have not been to Liberty Baptist so this is a total assumption on my part, but I would not be surprised if some within the church believed not that pastor Obi was a true disciple. That would be a pretty normal thing to expect, as we just saw with how even Jesus himself was received in Luke 4. I imagine pastor McMurtry had some things to work out to obtain the blessing of the church.
Although not on the same scale, this must have taken some faith and trust with pastor Obi similar to Barnabas bringing Paul to the apostles. Obviously, Liberty Baptist is not risking physical harm in doing this, (as was the concern with Paul) but a failure in Love Assembly to fulfill the mission could tarnish the reputation of the ordaining church. If that were to happen, that could affect pastor McMurtry and cause him to be more hesitant with putting his blessing on another truly qualified man of God down the road. As somebody who sees pastor Obi regularly, I have literally zero concern that he would do anything to damage the reputation of Liberty Baptist.
This act of consolation tells us something about Liberty Baptist church. They are thinking about growth, the work of God, and will take high but spiritually calculated risks in order to help accomplish the proclamation of liberty to the rest of the world. This is not a church with a goal of remaining comfortable.
To close, think about why we go to church. Yes, it is refreshing to spend time with the brethren and those who are like minded. The most important thing, however, is that we fulfill the great commission. If you really want to serve God to make the most out of your life (both now and to come), Liberty Baptist is a great choice to help you do that.
